Expert Karate Academy is operated by James Dozier Dozia, Honorary 6^th Degree Black Belt, who has trained and researched twenty years in the applied science of the ancient art of Japan Karate. Karate has two parts: mental and physical. Expert Karate focuses mainly on the mental, to think before one strikes. Self Discipline, control and confidence are three major keys. A person, child or adult, can change incorrect behavior through the applied science of Karate. Karate is an achievement that leaves the person with a good sense of accomplishment.

   In past years Karate was taught aggressively, to solve conflict with violence. Today Karate is a method of self discipline and control that instructs a person to think and to reason. I believe that when a person reduces him or herself to striking, they have already lost. There is nothing left but humility. This program works. I know, it changed my life and my achievements.

Achievements 

Expert Karate Academy does more than just kick and punch. We fit people's needs. People of the community know that we are a serious karate studio that has so many things to offer its students. Our program is full of enrichment for young minds. We understand that just visiting other environments helps young minds in so many ways.

There is a strong interest in performing in our studio - our children love to entertain the public with their karate skills. We create play with a lot of karate moves. It is very entertaining for the students and the public. The Down East Festival, along with schools, are always great events we love to participate in. We are responsible for all the Ninja Turtle and Power Ranger shows done in our area. I allow the students so many ways to use their skills in a positive way. Hoping that it will all continue and that karate will not be seen as a negative. 

We are associated with many organizations in the area: County Schools - Halifax, Nash, and Edgecombe, 21^st Century Program, Kids Station in Edgecombe County, and the Boys and Girls Club.

The students at Expert Karate Academy love to meet the Stars and I try hard to get them to the places that they will be appearing. Stars that we have interacted with include Chuck Norris, Dave Justice, Muhammad Ali, Bruce Jenner, and Shannon Lee, daughter of the late Bruce Lee, Mike Stone and most recently, Bill Superfoot Wallace. He is the fastest kicker in the world and the undefeated Middle Weight  Kickboxing Champion. He co-stared in the blockbuster movie A Force of One with Chuck Norris.

Expert Karate Academy has a very healthy and enriching program that helps to shape and mold minds. Some of our students are thinking about being actors for the movies.

Some of our students have been all over the United States through our studio, places such as California, Minnesota, Texas, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Florida, Washington DC, Atlantic City, New York, and Detroit. I thank God for our enriching program, as it benefits the students in such a positive way. Without God, our program would be nothing.
